"Don't let the Spiritual Warfare knock you out—the fight is just part of being called to the prophetic."
The battle between good and evil spirits that influences our lives, pushing us to choose between God's way and temptation, just comes with the territory of being a believer.
Spiritual warfare can be intense for prophetic individuals. You may be familiar with various demonic forces like astral-projected witches, Marine spirits, Incubus, Succubus, Leviathan, and Jezebel that attack the people of God.
If these are unfamiliar, don't worry—they represent some spirits that targeting the believer. For those who have encountered such forces, you'll understand the depth of this struggle. If not, that is a blessings.
Today, I want to explore the true nature of spiritual warfare for prophetic people—whether you're called to be a prophet or simply have a prophetic gift.
You see, the type of spiritual warfare I want to share with you today will knock you out every single time if you don't learn how to fight back. While I understand the reality of those spirits I mentioned above, many overlooked spirits plague prophetic people more than we are willing to admit. Joyce Meyer couldn't have said it better herself.
"The Battlefield Is In The Mind"
There are so many intercessors who can pray fire from heaven, prophets who can hold up the rain and then cause it to fall again at their word, and defeat those spirits mentioned above but still get knocked out in the battlefield of their minds.
They are great at external warfare but are defeated by internal warfare.
As we continue to journey through how to operate in the prophetic. Remember this: "Don't let the Spiritual Warfare knock you out—the fight is just part of being called to the prophetic."
Why… The enemy does not want you to accurately prophesy (To give a divinely inspired message from God). This is why he will do anything he can to either get you to shut up or distort God's message with deception.
Today, I want to discuss the type of warfare that aims to silence your voice as a prophetic vessel—the war between you speaking up or shutting up.
6 Most Common Types of Spiritual Warfare Prophetic People Will Face:
1) Doubt and Confusion: When you can't shake the fog over your spiritual decisions and insights, you question everything you thought you knew. Or maybe you are always doubting your gift and calling. The LORD has shown you that you are chosen, yet you are still in disbelief.
You were sure of what God told you to do or say at one point. Now, you think you are crazy and made it up. Or you begin to question the source: Did I make this up, or is it the enemy?
The formed weapon here is inconsistent, deceived, prophetic functioning, or not functioning at all.
2) Isolation and Rejection: Feeling cut off and misunderstood, especially by people who should be supporting you, which can make you feel alone in your prophetic journey.
Even when you think you found the right church or prophetic community, "something" tells you you still don't fit in or the people don't have your back. The whispers of "no one understands me, they don't get it, no one is like me, plague your mind. Even thoughts of pride, like I don't get anything out of being here, I'm here to serve, and that's it.
The weapon here is disconnection from the body of Christ. As a prophetic person, you must never forget you are part of the body—not a mouth or finger floating around by itself. A mouth disconnected from the head cannot speak, and a finger disconnected from the hand has no purpose.
3) Fear and Intimidation: The heavy weight of worry about speaking God's truth, scared of how people will react or what consequences might follow.
Even the boldest prophetic person may experience this from time to time. Don't let them fool you. Sometimes, God has us say some risky things, but we have to obey him.
Thoughts of "Who are you? You are being too judgemental, and I'm unworthy" will try to torment you.
Or you may experience others who are more mature or older in the faith than you may be intimidated by you. Because they can see the hand of the LORD on you even when you don't see it yourself.
The weapon formed here is a lack of full prophetic potential. You will be afraid to "do too much, stand out, or embrace the fullness of who God has called you to be." Stay in the "safe zone."
4) Spiritual Exhaustion: Feeling spiritually worn out from constantly praying, serving, or battling without enough time to recharge or receive support.
You can resent the call without fully understanding and embracing the call to spiritual realms. Instead of embracing the role of a victor, you take on the identity of a victim. "Why do I always have to fight, serve, battle."
I'm sorry some of us are just called to this. We were drafted. The sooner you learn how to fight, the more you will win than you will lose. You can become skilled in your armor. And know what weapons work for the call God gave you.
And yes, you will lose some fights and maybe even some battles, but you will win the overall war for your soul if you hang in there and let the boot camp shape you.
The weapon formed here is twofold: #1. to make you quit fighting spiritually or to get you discharged, making you one less warrior fighting against Satan and his forces.
5) Attacks on Personal Faith: Challenges that make you question your core beliefs, trying to pull you away from the truths you hold dear.
Did God really say that? Is? Is there a loophole in this Scripture? Maybe? There may be another revelation. Or the weariness of doing well.
The weapon formed here is to get you to stop pleasing God. Without faith, it's impossible to please him.
6) Distractions and Busyness: Getting so caught up in day-to-day chaos that you lose sight of spending time with God or growing in your character and gifts.
This one is the one most looked over: Family, finances, career, business, ministry, church, etc., can consume you so much that you lose sight of what matters.
Your personal connection and love for the father. The enemy knows what keeps you too busy for God, even the things that appear "good" he knows what will keep you from spending quality time with God. A simple I will pray/read my word later turns into tomorrow, turns into a week, then months go by without quality undivided attention between you and God.
The weapon formed here: The Martha spirit. So caught up with serving that you resent others for not doing what you do. You are so busy that you forget to sit at the master's feet and resent those who actually do.
How To Fight Back: Embrace that the enemy will form weapons against you, but they will NOT prosper.
Fight Like Jesus: Use the Word of God and Resistance
Just as Jesus resisted temptation in the wilderness by quoting Scripture, arm yourself with the Word of God. Stand firm against the enemy with truth and authority, knowing God's Word is your greatest weapon.
Fight Like David: Use Your Praise as a Weapon
David praised God even in the face of his enemies and adversity. Praise shifts your focus to God's power, confuses the enemy, and strengthens your spirit. Remember, your worship is a powerful act of warfare.
Fight with the Spirit of Truth in the Face of the Father of Lies
The enemy thrives on lies, but the Spirit of Truth exposes and defeats them. Stand on the truth of God's Word, regardless of what you feel or see. Declare, "It is written," and remind yourself of God's promises.
Fight Like Nehemiah: Ask for the Joy of the LORD for Strength
Nehemiah declared, "The joy of the LORD is your strength" (Nehemiah 8:10). Joy is more than emotion—it is divine strength to endure adversity. Ask God to fill you with His joy as you face your battles.
Fight Like Timothy: Use the Prophetic Words Spoken Over You
Paul encouraged Timothy to remember the prophetic words spoken about him as a tool for battle:
"Timothy, my son, here are my instructions for you, based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier. May they help you fight well in the Lord's battles." (1 Timothy 1:18)
Hold onto the words God has spoken over your life and use them to fight in faith.
Fight Like Paul: Don't Fight Alone. Paul constantly sought fellowship and prayer from others, knowing the power of unity in the body of Christ. Don't fight alone—find a prayer partner, accountability partner, or a community of believers to stand with you in prayer and faith.
Benefits To Standing:
Accurate Prophetic Utterances: Overcoming these challenges leads to clearer, more accurate prophetic words. When the mind is clear of doubt and confusion, the prophetic message flows more freely and accurately from the heart of God.
Increased Confidence and Authority: As you successfully navigate these battles, you develop greater confidence in your prophetic calling, which translates into greater authority in delivering prophetic messages.
Deeper Intimacy with God: The fight against these internal and external pressures forces you to seek God more deeply. This deeper intimacy strengthens your relationship with Him and enhances your prophetic sensitivity.
Greater Impact and Influence: When you operate in the prophetic with clarity and authority, you have a greater impact on those around you. Your words carry more weight and can bring about significant transformation in lives and situations.
A More Effective Intercessor: Overcoming these challenges equips you to be a more effective intercessor. You can pray with greater boldness and authority, knowing that your prayers are aligned with God's will and backed by His power.
A Stronger Testimony: Your journey of overcoming these challenges becomes a powerful testimony to others. It encourages and inspires others who are facing similar battles in their own prophetic journeys.
Our mind is truly the battlefield, but we are sure to win with God. Please check out my 'Developing Your Prophetic Mind' class. In this class, I discuss the practical steps and strategies for sharpening a prophetic mindset and navigating the unique challenges faced by prophetic people.
Reflection: Identify what area/s of warfare you are in right now. Pick a person to fight like and use that weapon, amen!
👋🏽 Bye Now!
